As a student of our school of deacons

  • You attend one class every week.
  • Each class is two hours.
  • In these two hours we do the following activities:
    • Praying (10 mins)
    • Coptic Language (20 mins)
    • Rites of our Coptic Church (20 mins)
    • Break (10 mins)
    • Hymns (40 mins)
    • Bible Study (20 mins)
  • You are assumed to attend all of the activities in order for an attendance grade to be counted toward your score.

Attendance Policy

  • You are assumed to physically attend the entire two hours of each class to get your 10-point weekly attendance grade.
  • Missing any of the four activities of each class (Praying, Coptic language, Hymns, or Bible) results in three points to be taken off your 10-point weekly attendance grade for each activity you miss.
  • You can't miss your quizzes or exams.
  • Honest excuses are definitely taken into consideration. You just need to contact your servant/s to explain your issue and for any possible make-up in case of missing a quiz or an exam.

Evaluation system

  • Each academic year in our school is divided into two semesters.
  • You need to pass each of the two semesters in order for you to get a certificate of completion of the class that you are attending.
  • At the end of each semester, there is a final exam.
  • There are four quizzes in each of the two semesters.
  • Exams and quizzes measure your knowledge of:
    • Coptic Language
    • Rites of our Coptic Orthodox Church
    • Hymns
    • Bible

each according to what was covered during each period.

  • Quizzes are not cumulative, but final exams are.
  • Your final grade at the end of each semester is the sum of:
    • Your 10-point weekly attendance score.
    • The average of the four quizzes (60 Points each)
    • Your final exam score (30 points)

Certificate of class completion

  • At the end of each year and after you get a passing score for each of the two semesters you will be invited to attend a graduation party where you can get you certificate of completion of the class that you were attending.

Ordinations

  • To get ordained as a deacon you need to pass the basic class of the age group that you belong to.
  • To get a higher deaconate rank you need to pass the advanced class of the age group that you belong to and to bring a recommendation letter from your father of confession.

Our Constitution of the Deaconate Service
